Taylor

Taylor Swift may be the most unusual of pop stars: an artist who was able to effortlessly bridge the gap between country and pop and conquer the world. Swift has thrown off her country roots like it were a second-skin showing herself to be the smartest pop singer/songwriter within her generation. She is able to harness the current zeitgeist and make it her unique. The skills she displayed were apparent in some of her first tracks, including the neodue Tim McGraw. But on her sophomore album Fearless which came out in 2008, Swift could identify the person she was and reach an audience that was large. Fearless was a big hit not only in the United States with it's Top Ten singles Love Story as well as You Belong with Me helped it to record six platinum albums but also around the world. The album was particularly successful throughout Canada Australia in Australia and Canada. U.K. Speak Now delivered almost two years later and consolidated this popularity and pushed Swift to the heights of fame. The popularity of Swift only grew through her subsequent three albums -- Red (2012) 1989 (2014) as well as Reputation (2017) Reputation (2017) and saw her move confidently into a pop realm in which she was already a part. While she reduced her work with folklore and Evermore released in 2020, she was at the forefront of pop music.
