Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton, born Jan. 19, 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. to 12 children from a poor family children that would be raised together eventually, learned very young how to overcome of her difficulties by using her rich and imaginative imagination. Prior to learning how to read or write, Dolly Parton was creating her own music. The first time she picked up a guitar was at age 8 and started singing at a Knoxville Tenn radio station at the age of eleven. In the same year, she released her debut album on Gold Band Records an independent small-scale label. Although she became an established local celebrity while at High School, she knew her dreams were bigger. After graduating from high school in 1964 she moved immediately to Nashville. Dumb Blonde (1967) and Something Fishy (1968) were the first two albums to chart on Monument Records. Porter Wagoner's syndicated TV show needed an additional singer around this point. Parton joined RCA Records and then joined the Grand Ole Opry. She was hired in the year 1967. However she left Wagoner's show in 1974 when her solo songs like Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene were charting collaborations with them. After their split, Parton wrote the song I Will Always Love You for Wagoner and it reached the top spot at No. Its first appearance at the top spot was in 1974.
